The Knights of St. John International, 2nd Regiment of Buffalo, New York celebrated Memorial Day Mass, Monday, May 30th, 2011 with the mustering of the Regiment at its "Parade Rest" Monument located in Pine Hill Cemetery in Cheektowaga, New York. Over 100 Knights and over 100 family and friends were in attendance. The Regiment mustered at 8:50am and paraded the Colors, clergy and honored staff. Mass was celebrated by Rev. Edward Czarnecki, Lt.Col. at 9:00am.
The monument contains all the names of the Regiment's Knights who have received their eternal reward. Each Memorial Day, those Knights of the Regiment who have past within the previous year are honored with the roll call of names, placing of a rose at the base of the monument and the etching of their name onto their Commandery's obelisk. Commandery No. 382 added to its obelisk the name of Col. Richard Beiter, a Charter Knight of Commandery No. 382, who had past in 1988. His son Rev. Robert Beiter and daughter were present for the dedication.
On Sunday, May 29th, 2011 Commandery No. 382 Knights gathered at the gravesite of its patron, Rev. Msgr. Joseph J. Vogel, Col. located in Springbrook, NY. The Knights posted the American, Papal and Commandery Colors on Rev. Msgr. Vogel's gravesite to recognize his faithful service to his GOD, Country, and Commandery.
