Armor of God

Ephesians 6:10-18

10Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. 12For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.

St. Paul's letter to the Ephesians represents his illustration of the Roman soldiers armor being the "spiritual armor" worn by us all.  The "Armor of God"; as it is known; protects us and help us to war successfully against the evils of Satan.  During the KStJI, Order of Chevaliers, Chapter No. 2, 2007 "Workshop Rertreat" the Order was presented a discussion on this topic by 2ndLt. Vincent Binder, Commandery No. 382's 2nd Vice Commander.  The "Armor of God" Affirmation Pamphlet is meant to assist a Knight in daily prayer and to attain spiritual growth.

The Knights of St. John International 1880 & 1998 Military Order Uniforms represent our Orders outward expressoin of wearing the "Armor of God".  When a Knight dons his uniform and helm of salvation he recites the indulgence prayers granted to our Order on Nov. 13th, 1923 by his Holiness Pope Pius XI.

After a Knight receives the 1st Degree Exemplifcation, if he decides to join a Local Commandery's Military Order, he will receive a greater explanation of the Knights of St. John International "Armor of God" / Military Order Uniform during the "Armor of God" Blessing and Investiture Ceremony.
